Kathy Gaut

Home
Kathy Gaut came to Pensacola, Florida from Dothan, Alabama, in 1984. She experienced a parent's worst fear when her daughter was abducted and never seen again. It is her spirit of healing and recovery that serves as the foundation for the Hawkshaw Lagoon Memorial Park.

Joanna Kay Otto was born in Dothan, Alabama on August 3, 1973. She attended elementary school in Dothan, and was a student at Ferry Pass Elementary School, Ferry Pass Middle School and Woodham High School in Pensacola, Florida.

In 1992, Joanna was living with a roommate, Liseth Nelson, at the Maison de Ville Apartments in Pensacola. On November 20, 1992, Joanna and Liseth went to a party, from which Liseth went home ill. Joanna stayed at the party, telling Liseth she would get a ride home with friends who were there. She got a ride home with James Earl Gibson, an acquaintance who later told police he dropped her off at her apartment after having taken home two other people from the party.

Joanna has not been seen since. James Gibson is currently serving a thirty-five year sentence on a kidnapping and rape conviction in an unrelated case.

  so many faces...

...beauty
to enjoy,
to experience,
to learn.

...solace
for family,
for friends,
for everyone.

...tranquility
to meditate,
to wish,
to reflect.
